FDA
Guidance about Natural Health Care
The
FDA is issuing a "Guidance" that implies that natural health care
products and alternative therapies can be "Medicine." This creates the
risk that any non-physician who uses them could be held to be
practicing medicine without a license. These practices could be
considered "Medicine" and any products intended for such use could be
considered untested drugs and therefore could be forbidden.
The
FDA is accepting comments about this "Guidance" until May 29, 2007. You
can make comments about "Docket: 2006D-0480 - Draft Guidance for
Industry on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and Their
Regulation by the Food and Drug Administration" by going to: http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/oc/dockets/comments/commentdocket.cfm

Vitamins
regulated in Europe - In the European Union
pharmaceutical companies have won in the battle to control the
lucrative vitamin and herb market. A regulation imposed by the UN
Codex Commission now requires doctors write perscriptions for vitamins,
herbs and food supplements. Vitamins and herbs are being treated like
potentially dangerous drugs. As a result dosages will be reduced down
to ineffective levels. Any country failing to abide by the new
regulations will be fined by the WTO. The UN Codex commission
aims to impose similar regulation in Canada and the United States. Click

Genetically Modified foods -
A report by the British-based news source, The Independent, revealed
secret research done by GM food giant Monsanto that compared the
biological effects of eating GM corn versus naturally grown corn on
rats. According to the 1,139-page report, rats fed GM corn had smaller
kidneys and blood variations while no health problems were seen in
rodents fed non-GM food. Blood variations could cause immune
deficiencies. This raises concerns that human health could also be
adversely affected by eating such foods. 75 percent of all processed products in the United States
contain some GM ingredients. See more at www.mercola.com.
Polluted waters - The Center
for
Disease Control (CDC) reports that more than nine hundred thousand
people become sick in the United States annually due to bacterial
contamination of drinking water. Dr. Patrick Flanagan recently
advised in his book, Elixir of the Ageless, that: "Drinking tap water
is a slow form of suicide, today's tap water is yesterday's toilet
water, too thin to plow and too thick to drink. Chemicals (chlorine and
fluorides) used to treat water are positive charged cationic
electrolytes that are potentially destructive to the colloidal balance
when ingested into the human system. As one result, people die...inch
by inch, not really knowing what is wrong!"
Hot dogs and nitrates -
Three studies link eating hot dogs to childhood
cancer. One study found that children that eat as many as 12 hot
dogs per month have nine times greater chance of getting childhood
leukemia. Another study found that children born to mothers who
ate hot dogs one or more times a week had a greater chance of having
brain tumors. The third study confirmed that mothers who ate hot
dogs during pregnancy had children with a greater risk of brain tumors.
Other studies suggest that vitamin C helps to negate the dangerous
effect of the hot dogs. Hot dogs contain nitrates which are used
as preservatives and to create the red color in the meat. These
nitrates form compounds that are known carcinogens. The best
alternative is to avoid hot dogs that contain nitrates.
Nitrate-free hot dogs are usually a brown color, rather than red, and
are safer to eat. Read
